EDMONTON – After leading their teams throughout the regular season, UBC's Conor Morgan, Calgary's Thomas Cooper, Saskatchewan's Shane Osayande, Alberta's Brody Clarke, and Thompson River's Volodymyr Iegorov were named first team Canada West all-stars Monday.
Thanks in large part to their first team all-stars, UBC (No. 4), Alberta (No. 3), Saskatchewan (No. 2), and Calgary (No. 1) enjoyed tremendous regular seasons that propelled them to the top four seeds heading into the playoffs.
In addition to the conference's first all-star team, Canada West's second and third all-stars – along with the conference all-rookie squad – were also unveiled Monday.
UBC captain Jordan Jensen-Whyte was honored with second team all-star status on the strength of a 15.2 points per game scoring average and 5.2 rebounds per contest.
13 different schools were represented on the three teams, as the conference's dispersed talent came through in the all-star and all-rookie selections, which were made by the conference's 17 men's basketball head coaches, who also picked the Canada West major award winners, who will be unveiled Wednesday, March 1.
