BRANDON, Man. – The UBC Thunderbirds, the No. 2 team in U SPORTS women's volleyball, will enter the Canada West playoffs on a six-match winning streak, after winning 3-0 (28-26, 25-16, 25-13) in Brandon, Man., Saturday against the Bobcats.
 
Playing in their final regular season conference match, 
Juliana Kaufmanis and 
Danielle Brisebois led the UBC offence, with 10 and nine kills, respectively.
 
The 'Cats, jumped to a first set 9-7 lead, and held a two-point advantage late at 19-17. Brandon almost put it away, but the T-Birds fought off four set points before taking it 28-26.
 
Sydney Toninato got the second set started for the Bobcats with energy, putting up three aces in the first four points for an early 4-0 lead. UBC responded with a 6-1 run in the middle of the set before taking it 25-16.
 
The Thunderbirds started the third set on a 5-0 run, stifling the Bobcats with a .278 attack efficiency in the set.
 
The win improves UBC's record 20-4 as they conclude the regular season and get set to host a quarter-final playoff series against Thompson Rivers next weekend at War Memorial Gym.
 
The Bobcats season is over with a record of 8-16.
 
Brandon was led by Nikala Majewski's eight kills, while Toninato finished with four aces and Courtney Roberts had four blocks.
