The Matchup
Despite a perfect 8-0 start to the season, the UBC Thunderbirds women's basketball team still sit in third place in Canada West. UBC has played two fewer games than Alberta and Winnipeg (both 10-0), so if the 'Birds can tame the Huskies this weekend in Saskatoon, they may move closer to that elusive first place position. UBC will face Saskatchewan on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7 at 4:15pm (PT).Â
Last ActionÂ
UBC capped off the first half of their season with a pair of dominant wins over the UBCO Heat. The T-Birds have won all but one of their conference matches this season by double digits. A pair of crushing exhibition losses in Santa Barbara, California over the break acted as a wake up call, though the Thunderbirds show few signs of slowing down as they push into 2017.Â
Saskatchewan currently sit in eighth place in Canada West with a 4-4 record. After a slow start to the season wherein the Huskies went 1-4, they reignited in mid November and have won three of their last four games.Â
By the NumbersÂ

31.3 -Â Defensive rebounds per game, also the second best in the country. The stat reveals that UBC is playing aggressively on both ends of the court.Â
