VANCOUVER – After UBC dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions to NCAA teams to start their exhibition season, a renewed commitment to team defence is what Head Coach
Mike Mosher pushed upon his players. Mosher got his wish in what's becoming an annual derby game with the crosstown rivals the SFU Clan at Thunderbird Stadium on Friday evening.
Â
The two teams battled to a scoreless draw with UBC goalkeeper
Chad Bush's four saves the most prominent statistic on the evening.
Â
"We wanted to concentrate on a better defensive performance than the first two games and we got that," said Mosher. "From week one to week two we want to be a better team."
Â
Both UBC and SFU played stifling defence throughout the match with no player registering more than one shot at net. UBC couldn't find a way to convert on their five corner kicks throughout the match.

Â
"It's a rivalry game. We asked our guys to come out to battle and compete and they did that," added Mosher. "That's a great starting point for us. If we don't give up a lot of chances and then you have a quality goaltender in
Chad Bush, that's pretty darn good spot to begin with and set yourself up to win games."

Â
UBC will play host to Seattle Pacific on Monday evening before hitting the road next weekend to finish their exhibition schedule against Thompson Rivers and UBC Okanagan.Â
