RECAP: 'Birds sunk by two-inning stretch as Warriors win 5-1

VANCOUVER – Two innings made the difference on Saturday afternoon, as the UBC Thunderbirds baseball team fell for the second time in two days to the Westmont Warriors, this time by a score of 5-1.

A scoreless deadlock was broken wide open in the fifth inning, as the 'Birds gave up three runs in the frame. The sixth inning provided some extra cushion for the Warriors, as they added the other two runs to their total.

The 'Birds got their only run of the contest in the eighth inning, and it came off the bat of Bruce Yari (Waterloo, Ont.). The senior outfielder belted a triple to right field, enough to drive in Anthony Olson (Edmonton), who had singled before Yari stepped up to the plate.

The 'Birds will have a chance to avoid the sweep tomorrow, February 14, as they face the 16th-ranked Warriors at 12 p.m. (PT).
