VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds women's volleyball program is proud to announce that Kiera Van Ryk, a left-side hitter from the Surrey Christian Falcons high school program, will be attending UBC beginning in the fall of 2017.
Â
Van Ryk was a highly recruited student-athlete by several Canadian universities as well as schools from the NCAA in the United States.

Â
"We're thrilled that Kiera has chosen UBC to continue her volleyball career and her post-secondary education," says UBC Head Coach
Doug Reimer. "She is a very special athlete. Some of her skills come from the fact she is a skilled multi-sport athlete."
Â
Van Ryk has led the Surrey Christian Falcons to consecutive top five finishes at the BC High School Volleyball Championships and has been a fixture on Canada's Junior National Team.
Â
"I'm really excited as she is the type of player that can really help our program out at the university level, but she will also move on to the national team level after," adds Reimer. "She is a very humble and hard working person."
Â
Throughout her athletic career Van Ryk has also participated in soccer, softball, gymnastics and figure skating.Â
