VANCOUVER – The Lewis-Clark State Warriors used a 10-run fourth inning to power past the UBC Thunderbirds by a score of 12-1 in the NAIA West regular season finale for both baseball teams in Lewiston, Idaho, on Sunday.

The seven-inning loss on Sunday dropped UBC's overall record to 35-16. The Thunderbirds finished second in the NAIA West regular season standings with an 18-10 league mark.

UBC trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, when the home side's explosive offence struck. Lewis-Clark State plated 10 runs on six hits, three walks and one Thunderbirds' error to seal the victory.

UBC replied with a single run in the top of the fifth. Second baseman
Justin Orton (Essex, Ont.) led off with a walk, and then got to second on a single by right fielder
Tyler Enns (Winnipeg). A couple batters later, first baseman
Bruce Yari (Waterloo, Ont.) earned a walk to load the bases.

Orton then came home on an ensuing wild pitch to break the shutout.

Enns was 2 for 4 batting to finish as the only T-Bird with multiple hits.

UBC has earned the second seed for the NAIA West Grouping Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, which begins on Friday, May 1 in Portland, Ore. The opponents will be the third-seeded Menlo College Oaks of Atherton, Calif. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
