VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds women's basketball team will face another tough test this weekend as they travel to Calgary to play the Dinos in the final Canada West games of 2015.
 
UBC (2-4) is looking to rebound after a pair of losses (69-49 Friday and 68-46 Saturday) to the top-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend in Saskatoon.
 
Forward Kara Spotton (Fort Collins, Colo.) led the Thunderbirds in scoring both nights, recording 16 and 21 points on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Point guard Diana Lee (North Vancouver) wasn't far behind with 14 and 15.
 
Spotton and Lee have led the way for UBC's offence most nights so far this season. Spotton is the fourth-leading scorer in the Canada West league, with an average of 17.3 points a game, while Lee is 22nd at 13.2 points a contest.
 
The Thunderbirds are tops in the Canada in free-throw percentage (75.6 per cent), second in steals per game (10.7), and fourth in blocks (3.0) and turnovers (16.3).
 
However, the team is giving up an average of 64.7 points a game, which is 10th in the league and opponents are shooting 43.9 per cent against UBC.
 
Calgary is building momentum after a road sweep of the Victoria Vikes on Vancouver Island last weekend. The Dinos won 81-72 on Friday and 84-72 on Saturday. 

Fifth-year forward/guard Claire Colborne, a former player with the New Brunswick Varsity Reds, recorded back-to-back double-doubles against Victoria. She is the Canada West's top rebounder with 13.7 boards a game. Colborne is also sixth in league scoring (16.7 points per game), while teammate Kristie Sheils, a fifth-year guard, is 11th (15.2).
