VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds men's basketball team is set to close out their pre-season schedule against this weekend, as they play host to the Mount Royal Cougars Friday and follow that up with a showdown against the Evergreen State Geoducks on Saturday night.
Â
The games, which will both go at 7 p.m., at War Memorial Gym, will serve as a final warm-up before the 'Birds open their 2015-16 Canada West campaign next week.
Â
The T-Birds have gotten off to a decent start in their exhibition schedule, posting a 3-1 record so far. Their most recent contest was probably their most impressive, as they trounced crosstown rivals Simon Fraser 101-71 on the back of 22 points from fourth-year guard
Jordan Jensen-Whyte (Calgary).
Â
The Cougars will be looking to get back in the "W" column after they dropped a set of back-to-back games against the Calgary Dinos, 88-66 and 80-78. The losses dropped Mount Royal's record to 1-4 this exhibition season.
Â
For Evergreen State, of the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference, the game against the T-Birds will mark the first contest of their exhibition schedule. The Geoducks are coming off of a 1-17 season in 2014-15.
