VANCOUVER – The No. 8-ranked UBC women's volleyball team will make their way out to the Prairies this weekend to face the Regina Cougars at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health, and Sport. The first of two contests will take place on Friday, October 30 at 6 p.m. (PT), while the second game is set to start on Saturday, October 31, at 5 p.m. (PT)

The 'Birds are coming off of a perfect season-opening weekend, as they took both matches in their back-to-back set against the Manitoba Bisons in straight sets. UBC's veterans went to work last weekend, and it shows in their stat lines.

Fifth-year outside hitter
Alissa Coulter (Calgary) ranks sixth in Canada West with 3.76 kills per set, and fourth in hitting percentage at 3.66.
Danielle Brisebois (Bolton, Ont.), a fourth-year left side player and 2014 Second Team Canada West All-Star, is ranked second in Canada West with 0.83 service aces per set. Facilitating those two lopsided wins, second-year setter
Alessandra Gentile (Port Moody, B.C.) sits second in Canada West with 11.00 assists per set.

The Cougars are still looking to capture their first win of the season after dropping their first four games of the season, two in straight sets to the No. 1-ranked UBC Okanagan Heat, then 3-2 and 3-0 against the Mount Royal Cougars.

Regina is being led offensively by outside hitter Ashlee Sandiford, who has piled up a team-high 34 kills on the season, including a career-high 11 in the second game against UBCO. In terms of defensive coverage, second-year libero Taylor Ungar has been covering miles, as her 41 digs on the season places her fifth in Canada West.

Following this weekend's set of games against Regina, the T-Birds will make their way home and prepare to host the Calgary Dinos in another two-game series.

The two games, which will happen as a part of the
UBC Thunderbirds Super Weekend, will take place on Friday, November 6, at 12 noon (PT) and Saturday, November 7 at 1 p.m. (PT). Â Both games will take place at War Memorial Gym.
