Winnipeg, MB - The No. 1-ranked UBC Thunderbirds women's volleyball team improved to 7-0 on the season after defeating the University of Winnipeg 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 26-24) Friday night in the Manitoba captial.

Lisa Barclay led the way for the Thunderbirds with 21 kills on the night, while
Rosie Schlagintweit chipped in with 12 kills of her own. Both players also had 10 digs as well.
UBC jumped out to a 2-0 lead after winning both the first and second set by the same 25-20 score; however, the Wesmen refused to roll over and fought out a tough 26-24 victory in the third set. Winnipeg was led by outside hitter Ozana Nikolic with 16 kills. It was just the fourth set UBC has lost all season.
In the fourth set, the Thunderbirds trailed 21-19, but would rally to win 26-24 and take the match 3-1. With the loss Winnipeg falls to 3-4 on the year.
Setter
Kirsty Setterlund was solid once again with 40 assists and a team-high 12 digs.
Abbey Keeping had a strong game as well with six kills and five blocks.
These two teams will play again Saturday in Winnipeg. First serve is at 5:30 p.m. PST.
