Vancouver, BC - This upcoming weekend, the UBC Men's Basketball team will host a six-team tournament that will feature UBC, Thompson Rivers University, University of Victoria, Wilfrid Laurier University, Concordia University (Portland, Oregon), and Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec). Coming off of a 96-54 win over the Seattle Mountaineers, the Thunderbirds are looking to continue this momentum in their three games over the course of the weekend.

Thursday evening, the Thunderbirds will go up against the Concordia University (Portland, Oregon) Cavaliers. While UBC has played three exhibition games during the pre-season, this will mark the first game for the Cavaliers. Last season, Concordia maintained an overall record of 15-14, with a conference record of 9-9.
Friday night, UBC will host the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks, who are coming off a 22-point win over the Memorial University Seahawks. In their three exhibition games, WLU has begun its season with a 2-1 overall record; like the Thunderbirds, the Golden Hawks will not begin their regular season until November 1.
Saturday, UBC will play its final tournament game against the Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec) Stingers, who are coming into this weekend with an overall record of 1-3. This past weekend, Concordia played in the Nike Tournament, within which they advanced to the championship final and lost 77-65 to Laurentian University.
Come out this weekend and support the 'Birds as they host their first tournament of the season! The tournament will function as a round robin, with all Canada West teams (UBC, University of Victoria, and Thompson Rivers University) playing each non-conference team once. All games will be held in War Memorial Gymnasium and run at 3 P.M., 5 P.M., and 7 P.M Thursday-Saturday. UBC tip-off is at 7 P.M. each evening.
