SALEM, OR - The weather throughout the Willamette Valley over the past week has once again affected Corban's baseball schedule, as announced Thursday by first-year head coach Jeff McKay.
The Warriors were scheduled to play the NAIA's No. 10-ranked British Columbia on Friday and Saturday in a pair of double headers on Warrior Field in Salem. Due to the field's unplayable conditions, Friday's twin bill has been moved up two hours and relocated out of town.
Corban and British Columbia will now play two games tomorrow – Friday, March 4th – beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Stayton High School's turf field.
"I feel that giving Warrior Field one more day to dry out would be our best option," said McKay. "Our infield has been covered in water for more than two weeks. It would be smart not to attempt to play four games on that type of surface and possibly ruin it for the rest of the year."
Saturday's games are still scheduled to be played at 11:00 a.m. on Warrior Field, but if the weather forces any changes then the games will be cancelled and made up when Corban heads north to Canada to take on British Columbia during the first weekend in April.
Corban heads into this weekend at 0-9 overall and 0-1 in NAIA West play. Meanwhile, British Columbia is coming off a four-game sweep of The College of Idaho earlier this week to improve to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in NAIA West games.
