REGINA, Sask. – The No. 1-ranked UBC Thunderbirds recorded their second straight-sets win over the Regina Cougars in as many days on Saturday night in a Canada West women's volleyball match at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health Sport.
UBC (2-0) controlled all three sets, winning the first two sets 25-18 and 25-12 and taking a 25-16 win in the third set to clinch the match.

Another strong performance especially our blocking and in particular Shanice and Kyla were very effective," said UBC head coach Doug Reimer. "Brina ran a nicely balanced offense both nights."
Solveig Nilson had six kills for the Cougars and a team-high .308 hitting percentage. Roxanne Olynyk led Regina with eight kills, while setter Tiffany Herman had 20 assists and 12 digs to notch the lone double-double of the match. Rebecca Rink added 11 digs for the Cougars.
UBC will hit the road again next weekend as they begin the Canada West schedule with four matches away from the War Memorial Gym. The Thunderbirds will take on UBC Okanagan (1-1) on Friday and Saturday in Kelowna, B.C.
The Cougars are back in action next weekend with a home-and-home against Saskatchewan. The teams, which will both go into the series with 0-2 conference records, will meet on Thursday night at the CKHS and on Saturday in Saskatoon.
