REDDING, CA - The no. 13 NAIA ranked UBC Thunderbirds (1-0) began their 2010 season with a solid 13-3 win over the Simpson University Redhawks on Wednesday afternoon in Redding, CA.
The game marked the beginning of the T-Birds annual road trip through California to begin their baseball season. The traveling 'Birds showed a lot of offensive pop, putting away a close game with 10 runs over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
Sophomore outfielder
Sean Pisarski led the UBC hit parade and was one of four T-Birds to notch a pair of hits in the game. He finished the game going 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double leading to a five RBI performance. Freshman 3B
Keaton Briscoe had a great T-Bird debut, tallying two hits, one RBI, two runs, and a stolen base in his first ever varsity game.
Danny Britton-Foster got the start for the T-Birds and went four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) and five hits while striking out two and walking one.
The second-year hurler got some help early as the 'Birds knocked in three runs in the top of the first. Simpson made it 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, however the visiting T-Birds went on to outscore the Redhaws 10-1 over the next three innings.

Nic Lindsay each added a two-run home run for UBC. The T-Birds finished the afternoon with 14 hits compared to six by the Redhawks.
UBC got solid performances from freshmen

Cody Chartrand on the mound. Senior
Matt Bannister also put up a scoreless inning.
UBC continues their trip with a match-up against no. 9 ranked Fresno Pacific on Thursday. The T-Birds open their conference schedule against Simpson with a pair of double headers on February 26 and 27.
