MUSCLE MLK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

11347

Jack Williams made history on Saturday as he became the first UBC Thunderbirds runner to ever win the individual title at the Association of Independent Institutions Men's Cross Country Championships.

He completed the eight-kilometer course at Ashford University in a time of 25:20.3. The native of White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, was just over three seconds ahead of Enrique Ramirez of CSU-San Marcos. Williams, a senior, helped UBC take second place in the team competition, 10 points behind CSUSM.

For his efforts he was named the Association of Independent Institutions Athlete of the Week.

He and the rest of the Thunderbirds will compete at the NAIA National Championships in Lawrence, Kansas on Saturday November 22, 2014.
