Poonam Sandhu made history this weekend as she helped her UBC Thunderbirds win their fourth straight CIS-Field Hockey Canada women's championship on Sunday in Toronto.
 
With the victory, the Vancouver native became the first women's field hockey player to ever win CIS five national titles (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).
 
In Sunday's 2-0 championship final win over Toronto, Sandhu, a Vancouver native, scored the game-winning goal in the 47th minute. With help from teammate Molly Driscoll, Sandhu stole the ball from a Toronto defender, cut into the shooting circle and buried a hard, low shot inside the goalpost to the goalkeeper's left.
 
Earlier in the tournament, Sandhu was named UBC's player of the match in a round-robin game against Toronto.
