Junior golfer Evan Holmes, an Arts student from Calgary, won the individual title at the Saint Martin's Invitational in Olympia, Wash., helping the UBC Thunderbirds place third in the team standings.

Holmes began the tournament on Friday by shooting rounds of 1-under par 70 and 3-under 68. He entered Saturday's final round two shots off the pace but fired a 2-under 69 to finished in a tie atop the leaderboard with Anthony Allen of Western Washington University. Both golfers had a score of 6-under 207, but because Holmes had a better final round, he was awarded the victory.

UBC’s next event will be the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham, Wash., starting Monday.
