UBC Thunderbirds Steven Stanford goaltender Steven Stanford allowed just three goals in two games over the weekend, helping UBC lock up the sixth and final playoff spot in the Canada West conference.

On Friday night the third-year player made 33 saves, while allowing just two goals in UBC's 5-2 victory over Manitoba. The following evening he was even better as he gave up just one goal on 30 shots, unfortunately the Thunderbirds couldn't generate any offence and lost 2-0.

In the second half of the season Stanford's play has steadily improved and he no doubt will be key to any type of success for the Thunderbirds in the playoffs. He finished the regular season with a record of 7-5-2 to go along with a 2.86 goals against average and a save percentage of .906%.

UBC will be in Saskatchewan this weekend to take on the Huskies in the best-of-three Canada West Quarter-Final.
