Keegan Zanatta was named the Male Swimmer of the Meet at the Canada West championship after leading his Thunderbirds to the conference title.

This past weekend in Edmonton, Zanatta won three goal medals and one bronze, helping UBC earn a total of 921 points in the team standings, 266.5 ahead of runners-up Calgary. It was the fourth-straight conference title for the Thunderbirds.

Zanatta was golden in the 200- and 400-metre freestyle events, posting times of 1:47.56 and 3:47.23, respectively. He anchored UBC to a Canada West record-setting performance of 7:15.56 in the 800 freestyle relay. The fifth-year swimmer from Victoria, B.C., also earned a bronze medal in the 1500 freestyle race (15:27.29).

Zanatta and the Thunderbirds will now begin preparations for the U Sports swimming championship meet Feb. 24-26 in Sherbrooke, Que.
