MUSCLE MLK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

11347

Curtis Taylor had a busy weekend pitching in three games over four days to help the Thunderbirds to its second straight NAIA West Conference Championship.

The second-year right hander from Port Coquitlam, BC was stingy in relieve pitching two innings on Friday against Menlo St. allowing no runs on one hit while picking up the victory.

On Saturday he earned the save in UBC’s 6-3 victory over Concordia, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth inning.

Taylor saved his best performance for Monday when he pitched the final four innings against Concordia, allowing just three hits and no runs to earn the win as UBC took home the championship title in the 5-2 victory.

This season Taylor has been outstanding with a record of 4-2 and 11 saves, with a minuscule earned run average of 0.88 in 51 innings of work.

The Thunderbirds will now move on to the opening round of the NAIA World Series beginning May 11.
