Dave Taylor was named UBC Women's Basketball head coach in July, 2025. He joins the T-Birds after a fantastic 19-year run as the head coach of the Regina Cougars. A two-time U SPORTS and Canada West Coach of the Year (2011-12, 2022-23), Taylor sits top 10 all-time for U SPORTS Women's Basketball victories.

Before being named head coach ahead of the 2006-07 campaign, Taylor served as an assistant coach for the Cougars for 13 seasons. He worked his way up from a part-time member of the coaching staff to eventually becoming the lead assistant and then head coach following the departure of Jeff Speedy. He led the Cougars to the U SPORTS National Championship Final in just his second season as head coach, and did it again the following year, earning a silver medal both times.

In all, Taylor won two Canada West championships and qualified for nationals on nine occasions during his time at the helm in Regina. He arrives at UBC with the best winning percentage of all active Canada West coaches.

Prior to his coaching career, Taylor earned a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Saskatchewan. He comes to Vancouver with his wife, Jennifer, and their three kids, Anna, Hayden, and Reese.
