Darcy Patterson became a full-time coach for UBC Women's Rugby in August of 2022, joining the 15s program as an assistant and serving as head coach of the 7s team since the preceding spring. She'd previously served as a part-time assistant for the 7s program since its inception in 2017.

In her first four seasons at the helm of the 7s team, Patterson has led the Thunderbirds to three Canada West Championships (2023-25), including undefeated seasons in both 2023 and 2025. 

A former UBC athlete and Canadian international, Patterson began her coaching career in 2013 after retiring as a player. She spent four years as the head coach of Capilano RFC Women's Premier 15s, and won multiple national championships with Team BC Rugby 7s and 15s. She's also served on the Team Canada coaching staff for numerous international tournaments including the 2017 Youth Commonwealth Games, the 2019 FISU Summer Universiade, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Women's Rugby Sevens World Cup.
