Steve Weiler

2024-2025 marks Steve Weiler’s fourth year as the Lead Endurance coach for the UBC Cross Country and Track & Field teams. The team progressed considerably during his first three years, culminating in both the Men and Women winning the 2023 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships. 2022 individual XC medals were earned by Glynis Sim (gold) and Kiana Gibson (bronze); 2023 individual XC medals were earned by Katie Newlove (gold) and Andrew Davies (bronze).

On the track, Weiler has coached UBC athletes to several program and NAIA records, as well as NAIA Championship medals in every endurance running event.

Weiler is also a Senior High Performance Coach with the Vancouver Thunderbirds (TBIR); since 2021 he has helped athletes earn Canadian Championship medals and/or National Team selection in the 1500m, Mile, 3000m Steeplechase, 5000m, 10000m,10k XC and Marathon. In 2023, his TBIR Senior Women had seven training partners place top-16 at the Canadian XC Championships, three of whom qualified for and competed at the 2024 World XC Championships.

Before moving to Vancouver in 2021, Weiler coached for two decades in Ontario with success developing athletes across all Endurance running events.
