Biography
Hewitt enters his second year with the Thunderbirds and will challenge for the number one job in goal.
Last year he played in 14 games, registering four wins and 10 losses, while posting a 4.10 goals against average to go along with a 0.874 save percentage.
The New Westminster, BC product joined the Thunderbirds after spending three seasons as the starting goaltender for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League.
He finished his WHL career with a record of 61-60-14, a 3.23 goal against average, a save percentage of .901 and six career shutouts. In his final year with the Pats he won the Rick Rypien Memorial Award as the team’s unsung hero and the Bill Hicke Award as the team’s most popular player.
Hewitt, who graduated from Burnaby North Secondary, played major midget for the Vancouver North East Chiefs.Â
Other than his willingness to stop a slapshot, Hewitt has a number of other skills including the ability to juggle and ride an unicycle.
