Pete Buckley enters his third season as the Thunderbirds Offensive Line Coach after taking the role in 2024, following roles as Special Teams Coordinator, TE coach and assistant OL coach since joining the T-Birds coaching staff in 2018.
Tackle Caleb Cunningham was named a 2025 First Team All-Canadian, continuing UBC’s strong offensive line legacy.
Guard Arvin Hosseini was recognized as a Canada West All Star in 2024. Two members of Buckley’s O-Line were also selected in the 2025 CFL Draft, with Hosseini being taken in the third round by Hamilton and Centre Gavin Coakes being selected eight picks later in the fourth by Toronto.
2023 saw two members of his TE position recognized nationally as Lucas Robertson was first team All-Canadian at TE and Skyler Griffith was second team All-Canadian as Special Teams cover player.
The Thunderbirds' elite Special Teams play was also acknowledged in 2023 with Canada West All Star recognition for Kieran Flannery-Fleck (Kicker), Shemar McBean (Returner) and Skyler Griffith (Coverage).
Buckley also coached the annual East-West game in 2024 as Team West’s Special Teams Coordinator.
Originally from the UK, he earned his bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Birmingham City University.
Pete and his wife Jamie and daughter Bailey live in Point Grey.
