Pete Buckley enters his second season as the Thunderbirds Offensive Line Coach after taking the role in 2024, following roles as Special Teams Coordinator, TE coach and assistant OL coach since joining the T-Birds staff in 2018.
Two members of Buckley’s O-Line were chosen in the 2025 CFL Draft, with Arvin Hosseini being selected by Hamilton in the third round. Centre Gavin Coakes was taken eight picks later in the fourth by Toronto. Hosseini was also recognized as a Canada West All Star in 2024.
2023 saw two members of his TE position recognized nationally as Lucas Robertson was named a first team All-Canadian while Skyler Griffith made second team All-Canadian as a special teams cover player.
The Thunderbirds' elite Special Teams play was also acknowledged in 2023 with Canada West All-Star recognition for Kieran Flannery-Fleck (Kicker), Shemar McBean (Returner) and Skyler Griffith (Coverage).
Buckley also coached in U SPORTS' annual East-West game in 2024 as Team West’s Special Teams Coordinator.
Originally from the UK, he earned his bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Birmingham City University.
