2013 marks Frantz Clarkson's first year with the UBC football program. He will be working with the defensive backs. The former CFLer has spent the past three seasons coaching at the University of Alberta.

Clarkson is no stranger to the Canada West conference having spent three seasons as a cornerback at the University of Manitoba (1996-98). He was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos in the fifth round of the 1999 Canadian Football League draft and went on to play six seasons in the CFL with the Eskimos, Ottawa Renegades, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

He also spent two years on the University of Manitoba track team winning a bronze medal in the 4x200m relay at the 1998 CIAU Championships.

Clarkson's previous coaching experience includes three seasons with the Edmonton Wildcats of the CJFL, three years at the University of Alberta, one year with the Edmonton Eskimos, as well as being the defensive backs coach for Team Alberta's U-18 team in 2012.
