History

The UBC Aquatic Centre currently features an indoor 50-metre pool. The indoor aquatic complex, completed in 1978, includes the main pool of unique design which embodies eight 50-metre lanes, eight 25-metre lanes and six 25-yard lanes, a 5-metre diving platform, as well as 1-metre and 3-metre diving boards.

The outdoor Empire pool was closed permanently in February 2014. Measuring 50 feet wide and 165 feet long, the open-air section was completed in 1954 to provide for the swimming and diving events of the British Empire Games.
