Biography
2009-10: Had a career year last season with the Thunderbirds as he finished third in the Canada West and first on the team in blocks averaging 1.16 per game...led the team and finished ninth in the conference in hitting percentage at .336...started all 18 matches and appeared in all 67 games... recorded a career and team-high 13 total blocks vs. Winnipeg (Oct. 24, 2009)...led the team in blocks 12 times...led the team in solo blocks with 12...had a season-high 11 kills and career-high .917 hitting percentage at Trinity Western (Oct. 30, 2009)...ranked third on the team with a career-best 2.25 points per game...totaled 46 digs...had a career-high seven digs vs. Calgary (Jan. 23, 2010).
2008-09: Made seven starts and appeared in 64 games over 19 matches…led the T-Birds in blocks per game with 0.83…ranked second in total blocks with 53…led the team in blocks five times…recorded a career and team-high eight blocks vs. Trinity Western (Nov. 29, 2008)…notched a career-high 13 kills and .600 hitting percentage vs. Saskatchewan (Jan. 16, 2009)…led all UBC middles with 26 digs.
International: Selected to the Canadian Junior National Team that finished 12th at the 2009 Junior World Championships (Pune, India).
Other: CIS All-Rookie selection in 2007-08 after finishing second on the team in hitting percentage (.377), fourth in blocks (0.51/game), and fifth in kills (1.17).
Family: Brother, John, is also a member of the Thunderbirds...sister, Liz, was a five-year standout with the UBC women’s volleyball team who was named CIS MVP and CIS BLG award winner in 2010 after leading the t-Birds to their third straight national title...sister, Emily, was a National Team and Thunderbird standout during the mid 2000s and is married to UBC assistant coach Leo Carroll...father, John, rowed for Canada at the 1976 Olympics.
