Biography

Schmidt enters his fifth and final season with the Thunderbirds. The team captain has played in 122 career games (regular season and playoffs) with the Thunderbirds. 

Last season he split time playing both forward and defence, registering four goals and 14 assists in 33 games (regular season and playoffs).

This year he is slotted in to play defence for the entire season.

Prior to joining the Thunderbirds, Schmidt played three seasons for the Powell River Kings of the BCHL.

Schmidt’s sister Katie is a UBC graduate and currently teaches at Collingwood, while his younger brother Steven attends Queen’s University and is a member of their hockey team.

The Campbell River, BC product is in the Faculty of Applied Science and hopes to become a materials engineer.
