VANCOUVER – 240 UBC Thunderbird student-athletes were honoured for their outstanding achievements in the classroom Tuesday morning at the annual Academic All-Canadian Breakfast of Champions.
Hosted at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, the event highlighted those athletes who produced a minimum academic standard of 80 per cent over the 2024-25 school year, the total number representing an eight per cent increase and the second highest total ever achieved.
UBC President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon, addressed the brightest among the blue and gold along with the many faculty representatives, coaches, staff and donors present.
The Academic All-Canadian Breakfast of Champions is an annual recognition event for varsity athletes who meet all the athletic eligibility requirements outlined by their governing body of sport (U SPORTS, NAIA) and must have been charged in a season of competition for the year they are receiving the honour.
Academic All-Canadians have been recognized by U SPORTS since 1988. 21 years ago, UBC began applying that standard to all varsity athletes and the annual All-Canadian breakfast has been held ever since.
