CALDWELL, Idaho - No. 8 College of Idaho rallied for a pair of wins over the University of British Columbia, winning game one by a 4-3 margin and taking game two by a 10-3 advantage to complete a doubleheader and series sweep on Saturday.
The Yotes (37-6, 21-5 CCC) picked up its 13
th and 14
th win at home in the process.
Game One
Game one saw College of Idaho pick up the walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh. The visiting Thunderbirds tied the game in the top of the seventh at three before a walk-off RBI single by Haley Loffer plated Lysette Viilegas in the bottom of the inning for the win.Â
UBC's first run of the day came in the second inning thanks to a two-out RBI single from
Arshleen Bajwa. Bajwa's knock scored
Olivia Malesku from second base and tied the score at 1-1. The College of Idaho then plated two runs of their own in the bottom of the third to lead 3-1.

The UBC comeback bid began with one out in the top of the seventh.
Gabrielle Dorval started the rally with a single. Pinch runner
Avery Mossop then advanced to second base on a
Hanna Hansen single. One batter later,
Arshleen Bajwa was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases with one out. Two hitters later, veteran
Mia Valcke stepped to the dish with two outs and delivered a timely two-run single to right field and the game was 3-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
To set the stage for the walk-off win, Lena Zahniser came off the bench with a single to start the inning. Next, Hallie Holland laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved pinchrunner Lysette Villegas into scoring position to face lead-off batter Haley Loffer. Next, the grad student shortstop got her second hit of the day with a single as the ball was misplayed by the Thunderbirds right fielder that allowed Villegas to score from second and the winning run.

Shelby Kempel started the game for UBC and surrendered two earned runs through two innings of work.
Lindsay Bell then threw four innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts. Her lone run against was unearned.
Shae Sever was the pitcher of record for the 'Birds as she surrendered the game-winning run off a one-out single that scored a runner from second base.
Game 2
The nightcap saw the two teams tied at 3 in the fifth inning before the host Yotes sent 12 batters to the plate for eight runs on eight hits. A two-RBI double by pinch hitter Hattie Hruza regained the lead for C of I, who went ahead 5-3 in the ining. Later in the inning, a two-RBI single with the bases loaded by Kaylee MacDannald stretched the lead to 8-3. The Yotes would add two more in the inning on its way to the win.
Halfway through the game, UBC led 3-2.

First up on the top of the third, trailing 2-0, the 'Birds got back even on the strength of a two-run double inning from
Keona Nordquist that scored
Caitlin Bradley-Tse and
Mia Valcke.

Then an inning later they took a one-run lead when
Casey Lo hit a two-out single that scored
Arshleen Bajwa who had reached base earlier on a double to right center field. Unfortunately for
Jennifer McKellar's club, an eight-run fifth inning followed from the Coyotes which led the 10-3 final.

Lindsay Bell started the game for UBC and threw the first four and one third innings, allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out three.
Shelby Kempel,
Taylor McRae and
Brittain Hunsberger also saw the circle for UBC in the series finale.
The Yotes picked up 12 hits in the win with three from Kaily Christensen, two each from Haley Loffer and Katelyn Wilfert. Christensen also had two RBI and 10-different players for C of I scored in the contest.
Hannah McNerney picked up the win in the circle for College of Idaho, raising her record to 18-2. She struck out five and allowed eight hits in the win.
Up next for UBC - A busy Sunday in Salem, OR as the 'Birds will battle Corban University in three separate makeup conference games stemming from a home series rainout that happened last weekend. The games are set for 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm PT with UBC playing as the home team.
