T-Birds open the season in style at SFU Dual Meet

BURNABY – The UBC Thunderbirds swimming teams took part in their first meet of the 2022-23 season and were in fine form winning 23 of 24 races atop Burnaby Mountain at the SFU Dual Meet Friday evening.

Both UBC teams didn't show much off season rust however there's room for improvement and plenty of upcoming meets to progress as a group. Friday's opening competition was also a chance to see the fine rookie class of 12 incoming T-Birds experience racing in the blue and gold for the first time.

"It was a nice way to start the season," said UBC head coach Derrick Schoof. "Some good honest efforts after some good honest training these last seven weeks. We have lots still to learn and we need to keep working hard. I'm looking forward to Calgary next weekend and then Odlum Brown Colleges Cup November 5-6 at UBC."
