VANCOUVER - Saturday afternoon in Langley, the UBC Thunderbirds earned their third consecutive victory thanks to a 55-38 victory over the Trinity Western Spartans. The 'Birds were paced by a pair of tries from
James Biss and a gutsy, collective come-from behind effort against their Lower Mainland foes.
AS IT HAPPENED
The Thunderbirds were the first to make their statement, scoring a try in the opening five minutes of the match. The Spartans answered back quickly with a score of their own to tie the match.
UBC and TWU traded tries once more before the Spartans took off. The home side kept applying pressure and took a 35-19 lead into halftime.
The second half was a different story though as
Curry Hitchborn's club came flying out of the gates, and dominated possession in the second half.
UBC outscored the Spartans 36-3 in the second half, wrapping the match's score up at 55-38.
Up next for the 'Birds, a Saturday afternoon home clash with Pacific Pride at 2:30 p.m. from the Gerald McGavin UBC Rugby Centre.
