"We had so many excellent performances this weekend," said UBC head coach Derrick Schoof after just the second competitive varsity meet for the Thunderbirds in nearly two years. "I'd say what stood out for me the most was both the women's and men's 4x100 medley relays. We came together as a team and really finished the meet off with some excellent team performances – including the men setting a new meet record by two seconds."

The new-look 'Birds will now set their sights on defending their conference championship titles November 26-28th in Edmonton, Alberta.

"We really have a lot of work to do still on race tactics and execution," said Schoof. "I know we can continue to get faster over the next three weeks and keep learning from the racing we just finished. The Odlum Brown Colleges Cup was our first 'real' heats and finals meet since February of 2020 - so it was a great experience, and we certainly learned a lot from it."
