VANCOUVER -
Danielle Steer's torrid scoring pace continued Saturday night, potting two more goals and adding an assist to power the Thunderbirds past the UBC Okanagan Heat 4-0 under rainy skies at T-Bird stadium.
Â
One night after recording her first career Canada West hat trick, Steer quickly picked up where she left off adding her fourth and fifth markers of the weekend to help the T-Birds (8-0-0) remain undefeated on the Canada West season while the Heat fell to 0-5-3.
Â
"I thought we did a great job building off our most complete game of the season from last night," said UBC head coach
Jesse Symons. "Especially in the first half before a lot of changes in the second half but the players did a good job who went in and really settled the game around the 60-minute mark and the last 30 minutes was quite comfortable for us."

Â
Steer opened the scoring in the seventh minute by slotting a one-time touch into the corner from 12 yards out, converting on a nice pass from
Sophia Ferreira who capitalized on a quick counter after intercepting a clearance attempt by UBCO goalkeeper Molly Race.
Â
The Heat would respond with a couple promising forays into UBC's end culminating in the 26
th minute after connecting on some pinpoint stretch passes setting up midfielder Erica Lampert with a sizzling one-time shot from 25 yards that diving 'Birds goalkeeper
Sarah Johns did very well to push around her right post.
Â
UBC would then add to their lead six minutes apart as the game reached the 40 minute mark, beginning with a dangerous Sophie Damien shot across goal mouth that hit the inside of the right post and bounced to Steer for the tap in on minute 34. Steer's fifth consecutive goal and 12th on the season which places the fourth-year striker in a first place tie for most markers on the season to date alongside Calgary's Montana Leonard.
Â
Â
"Danny's just finding ways to score, she wants to score and she is scoring," added Symons. We'll keep her going she's been in a great head space all year and she also set one up tonight which is fantastic to see so overall another good performance from her again tonight."
Â
The 40
th minute would see Steer coral the ball in Heat territory, create some space for herself and find
Vanessa Tome in a dangerous area, she would turn and place a low shot into the left corner and a 3-0 lead.

Â
After a back and forth second half the T-Birds would strike one last time in the 89
th minute from a Sophie Damien in swinger left footed corner kick to the back post.
Sabrina Anderson connected with a header towards goal where
Jade Taylor-Ryan turned on a bouncing ball and sent it into the back of the net to go up 4-0.
Â
The 'Birds who've only conceded one goal against this season continued their stingy ways in securing a second straight shutout while the Heat tested third-year goalkeeper
Sarah Johns with three shots at target.
Â
"Our defensive unit has been so good," continued Symons. "Literally we start from the front all the way back and I thought tonight
Sarah Johns coming in was very steady and a goalkeeper for the future here. It just shows what quality we have in that position but full credit to Sarah she held everything, little cross here or there she managed and distributed well, she's a top goalkeeper."
Â
The T-Birds will get set for their final home set next weekend, an important matchup hosting the Pacific Division leading Trinity Western Spartans next Friday and Saturday October 15
th and 16
th with 5:30 p.m. kickoffs on both evenings at Thunderbird Stadium. The Heat meanwhile return home to host UVic for a pair of late morning starts, next Friday and Saturday, both with 11:00 a.m. kickoffs.
