VICTORIA –
Tristan Nkoghe scored two goals to help lift the UBC Thunderbirds to a 4-0 shutout road victory over the UVic Vikes Saturday night at Centennial Stadium in Victoria.
It was an uplifting way to close out the Canada West regular season which has been a bit of roller coaster for the 'Birds who see their record move to 4-6-2 and for now occupy second place in the west division standings. The T-Birds await the results of Sunday's games to see if they'll be hosting or on the road when Quarterfinal playoff action begins next weekend.

3rd Minute – UBC 1, UVic 0
- Capitalzing on their first corner of the game, Christopher Lee's kick found Jackson Farmer in front of Jared Perras, who was able to touch it in for the early lead.
7th Minute – UBC 2, UVic 0
9th Minute – UBC 3, UVic 0
- Nkoghe would notch the brace just two minutes later, taking a wide open shot from the right side inside the penalty box that got past Perras.
90th Minute – UBC 4, UVic 0
- Just seconds in to the additional time added by the refs, Stefan Colbow found himself wide open at the top of box, ready for the pass from Sebastian Dzikowski to bury the final Thunderbirds' goal of the night.
NOTABLE PLAYS
- 27th Minute – Sylvain Taghaoussi appeared to have UVic's first goal of the night on a header from the left side of the box, but the right goal post interfered to keep the Vikes scoreless. Andrew Gibbs found the post's deflection, but Bennett McKay was there to make the save.
- 60th Minute – UBC's first corner of the half, the 'Birds had a promising-looking attack in the box, but the Vikes defence was able to clear it.
NOTES
- UVic played a brand-new starting lineup against the Thunderbirds, with a majority of the Saturday night starters previously holding off-the-bench roles.
- The UBC win secures the Thunderbirds' spot in the Canada West playoffs.
- The Thunderbirds held the Vikes to just four shots on the night.
