VANCOUVER - Further to the earlier cancellation of all UBC varsity spring seasons, UBC Athletics & Recreation will continue to close facilities indefinitely and all programs are suspended through May 30, 2020 as precautionary measures against COVID-19.
This shutdown will continue to apply to all varsity sports, recreation and public use.
The following facilities are closed for all activities, including rentals:
- Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre
- John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse
- Student Recreation Centre
- ARC & BirdCoop Fitness Centres & Studios
- UBC Aquatic Centre
- UBC Tennis Centre
- UBC Baseball Rose Indoor Training Centre & Baseball Stadium
- Thunderbird Park
- War Memorial Gymnasium
- Gerald McGavin Rugby Pavilion
UBC Athletics & Recreation will continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidance of health authorities to ensure appropriate procedures are in place to protect all involved in our community. Members and guests will be informed of updates to our operations as soon as they become available.
We recognize this decision may disappoint some of our community and we look forward to re-opening our facilities and seeing all of you again as soon as possible.
