VICTORIA, B.C. – The UBC Thunderbirds finished second at the Victoria leg of the Canada West Women's Rugby Sevens series, and in the overall conference standings for 2020.
The T-Birds fell 29-0 to host and champion Victoria in the final Sunday at Wallace Field. In a rematch of the Vancouver tournament championship, the Vikes led 12-0 at half. Â
UBC won its pool yesterday with a perfect 3-0 record. Today, the team won its semifinal 19-12 over Calgary, getting two tries from
Kally King, and one from
Rachel Smith.
With the results this weekend in the provincial capital, the Thunderbirds finished the season with 32 series points from a pair of second-place tournament finishes, and a fourth-place showing. UBC also finished second in the Canada West last year.
