LA GRANDE, Ore. – Shortstop Sydney Brown and outfielders Claire Eccles and Paige Harbord were named to one of two All-Cascade Collegiate Conference teams Thursday night at the CCC Softball Tournament Banquet in Ashland, Ore. Eccles was also named a Gold Glove outfielder for her outstanding defensive play in 2018.
 
Brown, a senior from Langley, B.C., hit a team-best .371 in 35 contests this season, which ranked her eighth in the CCC. She also hit three triples, which was tied for the most on the UBC roster with Sierra Sherritt, and fifth in the league. Brown also stole eight bases.
 
Eccles, from Surrey, B.C., hit .336 in 38 games in 2018. Fourteen of her hits were doubles, which put in her in a tie for fifth in the conference heading into the playoffs. She also led UBC in home runs (two), runs batted in (27) and total bases (66).
 
Harbord, a senior from Delta, B.C., was the Thunderbirds' second-leading hitter with a .346 average in 36 games; she recorded 23 runs scored and five stolen bases.

The fifth-seeded Thunderbirds (17-21, 14-13 Cascade Collegiate Conference) open the league championship tournament tomorrow at 9 a.m., against Eastern Oregon.
