VANCOUVER - The Thunderbirds attacked well but couldn't capitalize on their chances against the Saskatchewan Huskies, coming away with a 0-0 tie. UBC is undefeated in 2016 CIS action, but has left points on the table for three straight games. Saskatchewan moves to 1-3-2 this season.

Since subbing in for
Chad Bush on September 3
rd, goalie
Jason Roberts has only allowed one goal in six games.
Â
Roberts credits his teammates for a four game shutout streak. "A lot of it has to do with the defence. I'm not getting too many shots against."
Â
At a sunny Ken Woods Field, the T-Birds pressured in the second half – generating quality scoring chances and backing down the Huskies defence with quick transition plays.
Â
Roberts said his team was a bit soft to start the match. "We didn't play too well in the first half and got outworked a bit. We challenged ourselves at halftime and picked in up in the second half – had a lot more of the possession and got a lot more chances."
Â
One of UBC's best chances came off of a
Manraj Bains header in the 72
nd minute – hitting the crossbar and bouncing down in front of the goal line.
Â
"I'm pretty disappointed in myself for that one…should've got it in the back of the net."

Â
Although his team is struggling to score, Bains recognizes the strong performances from the Thunderbird defence.
Â
"Our counter-press and our defensive shape have been doing very well recently. That's probably been the best part of our game."
Â
UBC heads out on the road next weekend as they take on Mt. Royal and Lethbridge in Alberta.
