The disappointment of not having his name called at the 2016 CFL Draft didn't last long for UBC Thunderbirds defensive back
Dominique Termansen (North Vancouver, B.C.).
Â
It was the following morning when his agent called and told him he had been signed by the CFL's Montreal Alouettes and would be attending the team's rookie camp starting May 24
th.

Â
"I felt a lot of relief," says Termansen. "It ended about twelve hours of pretty deep disappointment after not getting drafted."
Â
The fourth year kinesiology student thrived in the Thunderbirds aggressive ball hawking secondary last year, recording 50.5 tackles and intercepting a pass. But where Termansen feels he might have a leg-up on others fighting for pro jobs is his proficiency at playing special teams.
Â
"Throughout my four years I played on all the special team units," he explains. "I've been watching lots of games to see what CFL players do on third down."

Â
"The biggest things I will be working on is my physicality and becoming an overall student of the game," adds Termansen who has barely a week before heading off to Montreal for rookie camp. "I'm still in the gym, still on the field working on my game. Then I'll spend a couple days with family before I leave, because hopefully I'll be in Montreal for the next several months."
