PREVIEW: UBC hosts the Mainland Cup final on Saturday

VANCOUVER – After finishing top of the Canadian Direct Insurance Premier League's Lower Mainland Qualifying Round, UBC take on the No. 3 seed Burnaby Lake in the Mainland Cup final on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at Ken Woods Field on Saturday, December 5.

The 'Birds reached the final with a hard-fought home semifinal win over Seattle Saracens while Burnaby Lake beat Capilano in the other semifinal at Klahanie Park.

UBC will still be missing Quinton Willms (Terrace, B.C.), James Thompson (Dromore, Northern Ireland) and Cole Keffer (North Vancouver) through injury while Andrew Coe (Markham, Ont.) and Karsten Leitner (Vancouver) are both unavailable due to their selection to the Canada Sevens teams in Dubai.

In the previous meeting earlier this season, the 'Birds managed to overcome Burnaby Lake 38-25 in one of the two games played on the new field in front of the Gerald McGavin UBC Rugby Centre. Burnaby will be looking for another strong performance to finish this half of the season in preparation for the start of the CDI Premier League campaign in 2016.
