VANCOUVER – The top two teams in the Canada West Pacific Division square off for the final time in the regular season on Friday, as the No. 2-ranked and undefeated UBC Thunderbirds (6-0-1) host the No. 9 Victoria Vikes (4-1-2) at Thunderbird Stadium at 7 p.m.
 
Along with cementing their status among Canada West's best clubs, this game also carries post-season implications for both UBC and Victoria, as the highest-ranking Pacific Division team left after the quarterfinal round of the playoffs gets to host the league's Final Four tournament.
 
"UVic and UBC is always a big game and this year with both teams being strong it is certainly no exception," said UBC head coach Mike Mosher. "I think they will be better than what we saw in game 1 of the season, but I think we have progressively made strides as a group and are looking to hit full stride with all the big games to come."

When they last met, the T-Birds and the Vikes played to a 1-1 draw, also in Vancouver, to open Canada West play on September 5. In that contest, Gagan Dosanjh (Abbotsford, B.C.) scored for UBC in the 12th minute only to have Craig Gorman equalize less than a minute later.
 
Since then, the Thunderbirds have dropped a 1-0 non-conference matchup to an NCAA power, the Washington Huskies, but reeled off six straight victories in Canada West play, four of which ended up in a shutout for UBC goalkeeper Chad Bush (Ottawa).
 
After earning two back-to-back clean sheets against the UNBC Timberwolves on the road last weekend, Bush was named Canada West's third star of the week. The 6-foot-2 keeper's impressive form has been a key part of the T-Birds' success all season, as the Blue and Gold have given up just four goals in seven games.
 
Dosanjh and fellow midfielder Sean Einarsson (Surrey, B.C.) lead the charge for UBC's offence, pacing the club with three goals apiece, while Harry Lakhan (Surrey, B.C.) and Kerman Pannu (Surrey, B.C.) have two tallies each.
 
UBC's attack got a little more deadly last weekend, as they added fifth-year midfielder Milad Mehrabi, Canada West's leading goal scorer from 2013. The Coquitlam, B.C., native made an instant impact on the scoreboard and the standings, as he scored the game-winning marker in Sunday's match at UNBC.
 
Victoria's Cam Hundal should provide an ample challenge for Bush and the UBC defence, as the Terrace, B.C.-born fifth-year midfielder has notched five goals and two assists in just seven appearances this season. Gorman has done his fair share of damage for the Vikes as well, posting four markers of his own through the first half of the season.
