VANCOUVER – The No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds earned a 3-0 road victory over the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops, B.C., on Friday night. With the win, UBC improved to 5-0 in Canada West conference play while TRU fell to 0-2-1.

Richard Meister, a native of Port Moody, B.C., recorded the clean sheet made three saves to improve to 2-0 and earn his second straight shutout.
"We certainly had a large amount of possession," said UBC head coach
Mike Mosher. "I would have liked us to score a few more goals from it. At the end of the day, we certainly wore them down as the game went on."
Einarsson's opening goal in the 18th minute turned out to be the game winner. He got a through ball from Mehrabi and scored on his own rebound for his third tally of the season.
Niall Cousens had a chance to double UBC's lead when he was awarded a penalty kick on a TRU handball in the box, but his attempt was turned aside by WolfPack 'keeper Travis Froehlich, who dove to his left to block the low shot.
While the T-Birds controlled the first half, they went into halftime up by just a goal.
They finally got the second goal in the 62nd minute when Fong headed home his first-ever goal at the university level. Standing in front of the net, Fong got his head onto the end of a cross from
Navid Mashinchi.
Mehrabi added another insurance marker in the 76th minute as he launched a rocket from outside the 18-yard box that eluded Froehlich to close out the scoring and give UBC its second consecutive 3-0 win.
The Thunderbirds have found the net 15 times in their first five games of the regular season. They hope to continue their high-scoring ways when they face the UBC Okanagan Heat in Kelowna, B.C., on Saturday. The two teams are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
