MCCALL, Idaho - The UBC men's and women's alpine ski teams travelled to McCall, Idaho where they dominated once again on the slopes of Brundage Mountain.
The first day of competition saw three women in the top five. Sam Bisnaire finished in her usual spot atop the podum in first place.
Sandra Gerlich continued her incredible rookie season, by placing third,
Christina Donnelly finished in fourth and
Kayla Johnston in seventh.
The men also found success with Michael Cadman claiming third,
Austin Taylor finishing in fourth and
Jackson Hamersley in 22nd.
Jake Wellian did not finish his first run. On the day, the women's team were first by another large margin, ahead of the College of Idaho and the University of Washington. The men finished second only 1.2 seconds collectively behind Whitman College.
On the final day of Pacific Northwest Conference racing, the women's team had a repeat performance with all skiers in the top 10.
Samantha Bisnaire found herself once again on the top of the podium by a very confortable margin. Gerlich finished in fourth spot, Donnelly finished in sixth and Johnston in seventh. On the men's side Taylor and Cadman flip flopped yet again with them finishing in fourth and fifth respectively. Hamersley moved up into 17th spot and Wellian finished in 21st. The women and the men were the fastest teams on the mountain to close out the conference season.
With these results the women and men's teams clinched the overall titles for the USCSA Pacific Northwest Conference. The women finished ahead of the College of Idaho and the Washington. The men prevailed ahead of Washington State University and the University of Oregon.
Samantha Bisnaire claimed her first overall title ahead of the Washington's Morgan Duffy and the College of Idaho's Nina Hirner. Cadman and Taylor finished in fourth and fifth overall as individuals with the College of Idaho's Zach Shenk claiming the individual men's title.
Both men's and women's ski 'Birds now move on to the USCSA Western Regional Championships which take place once again at Brundage Mountain. They will look to capitalize on the experience gained from these few races, in order to qualify for the USCSA National Championships, which take place March 9-15 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
