Thunderbirds play host to Thompson Rivers and UBCO this weekend

Vancouver, BC – The UBC Thunderbirds women's soccer team are back in action this weekend after enjoying a bye week. The T-birds have rematches against Thompson Rivers University and UBC Okanagan this weekend, both of whom they faced on their interior road trip September 19-20. The team is looking to capitalise on home-field advantage this time as they play host to TRU on Friday and UBCO on Saturday. Both games will start at 5 p.m. PST and will be played at Thunderbird Stadium.

The Thunderbirds are looking to build on their 3-2-1 record so far this season.  In their last face-off against TRU, they had a solid victory against the Wolfpack, beating them 4-0 in their first match-up of the season. TRU will be looking for their first win of the season.

Things were tighter in the T-Birds' last foray against UBCO however, as the first UBC-UBCO game of the season ended in a 1-1 tie.  The Heat are 5th in the division currently, right behind the Thunderbirds who are currently in the middle of the pack.

The Thunderbirds will look to the team's top-scorer, second year Kinesiology student Jasmin Dhanda to continue her streak this weekend. Dhanda has five goals under her belt already this season, and is ranked second in the Canada West conference for shots on goal.

You can catch the 3-2-1 Thunderbirds in action on home turf at Thunderbird stadium this Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 5 p.m. PST.
