VANCOUVER - The University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves will welcome the UBC Thunderbirds to town on Sunday as the 'Birds look to remain undefeated on the season. The Thunderbirds have not surrendered a goal over the previous three games and look to shutdown the Timberwolves on Sunday.
After two strong performances against Prairie rivals Regina and Saskatchewan, in which the 'Birds outscored their opponents 3-0, the team looks to hand the Timberwolves its sixth loss of the season.
The Thunderbirds strong play of recent has vaulted them to No. 4 in the CIS rankings and currently sit in fourth place in the Canada West conference. UBC leads the league in team defence, having allowed just one goal in the team's five regular season games thus far. Goaltender
Alyssa Williamson has backstopped the Thunderbirds to three of the team's four shutouts, giving her the league lead in that category.
The last time these two teams met was in the latter half of last year's Canada West regular season with the Thunderbirds winning decisively by a score of 13-0. Fifth-year forward
Janine Frazao scored five of the 'Birds goals in last year's matchup.
UNBC are last in the Canada West conference with only a tie to go with five losses. UBC sits at 2-0-3 for the season just shy of the halfway point in the regular season.
Kickoff is set for 12 noon Pacific. Live stats can be found at
