Vancouver – The UBC Thunderbirds look to continue their winning ways as the team welcomes the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the University of Alberta Golden Bears to Thunderbird Stadium this weekend.
The 'Birds are currently riding a four game winning streak after defeating Fraser Valley and the University of Victoria last weekend and sit atop the Canada West Pacific Division, with a three point cushion over the second place Victoria Vikes.
This weekend's matchups will prove to be a tough test for the streaking Thunderbirds, however, as Alberta and Saskatchewan hold the top two positions in the Canada West Prairie Division.
Alberta remains undefeated and holds the top spot in the division with a record of 4-0-1. The Golden Bears come into the weekend as the fourth-ranked team in the CIS and have looked dominant so far this season holding their opponents scoreless on three occasions.
The Saskatchewan Huskies sit only a point behind the Golden Bears and are 4-2-0 on the season after splitting an away series with the University of Calgary last weekend.
UBC's record stands at 5-1-0 on the season while outscoring opponents 20-5. Coming into the weekend the Thunderbirds are the second-ranked team in the CIS behind the York Lions.
It will be the first time this season that the Thunderbirds face off against their Prairie rivals and will look to get on the board early and often.

Paul Clerc added two goals in two weekend victories while displaying his strong defensive presence helping the Thunderbirds move to top spot in their division. With the tallies, Clerc leaped into first place in the Canada West scoring race having registered five markers through six games.
The Thunderbirds and Huskies will face off on Friday night at 7:00 pm at David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium while Saturday's game against the Golden Bears is set for 7:30 pm kickoff. This weekend will mark the halfway point in the Thunderbirds quest to repeat as CIS national champions.
